The Food and Drug Administration recently authorized COVID-19 vaccines for distribution and administration. The authorized vaccines are from the Pfizer BioNTech and Moderna. COVID-19 Vaccine Administration
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the currently authorized vaccines to prevent COVID-19 in the United States require 2 shots to get the most protection.
- Pfizer-BioNTech doses should be given 3 weeks (21 days) apart.
- Moderna doses should be given 1 month (28 days) apart.
Common Side Effects of COVID-19 Vaccine
- Pain and swelling in the injection site that should go away in no more than 24 hours
- Fever
- Chills
- Headache
- Tiredness
